The dunes cascade across the beach protecting the fixed lands from being swept away. Yet over eons of motion the soft liquid takes its toll on the firm grounds. “What a powerful thing,” I think to myself, “something so soft can erode something so steadfast.”
It makes me think of humanity. What does strength really reside in?
How can we learn from this tremendous power of persistence? After all, we are 70% or more water.
Can we shift hard outer shells with a gentle ebb and flow? In time, can we become so mobile that we bend, but we don’t break? Can we allow ourselves to love so much that even the tough things give into the larger whole?
I have a long ways to go with these skills, but I do have the best teacher showing me the way. The one who has been here since the beginning of time and will continue on until the end, ebbing and flowing.
