My feet carried me faster across the sand that day, straight for the water’s edge, where I knelt down. Hips sunk back towards my heels, forehead to the sand, elbows pulled closely in, palms pressed tightly together above my temporarily dry hair, finger tips reached towards the storm stricken sky… and there I was…
A stranger walking by may have looked at this scene as an action of remorse, response to a heartbreak, or a young women experiencing a time of tragedy, but it was just the opposite.
While the eternal winds blew around me and raindrops of ecstasy landed upon my naked back, tears of rejuvenation flooded from my closed eyes, rolled down my face and onto the supporting sand.
A simple act of bearing witness to the world at large, to the raw elements, to a spontaneous soul, lead me to this place.
Leaping from the sand, as if born anew, I dove head-first into the barren sea with a smile. Gazing out into the horizon and back onto the land, realizing both were desolate- I stood alone in an unexplainable thrill. I laughed, I threw water up in the air, and I rejoiced… just to be….
